Hello squirrell, cheers for sorting the timing and carb, was nice to stop and chat for a bit also! The enigne is running good (except the carb being funny) and my girlfriend is now using 'bounce' the beetle for work everyday again. But he's still spewing oil everywhere which must be the crank pulley oil seal. Ive heard its an engine out job? would you be able to do it for us?

She's going to join KDC tonight!

cheers dude,

Hello I am in bristol and have a problem with a 1972 1600 TP beetle. Basically I have just installed an engine into it that has been standing in a car for a few years. The engine is an alternator converted type and as such i have done the wiring mods required (removed regulator etc). The engine runs but seems to only be getting fuel to, and running on, number 1 and 2 cylinders. There is good spark all round and I have cleaned the carb out. The plug from cylinder 1 is sooty black and the one from 4 is clea...

Hey matey,

Kubricks brake lights only come on when the brake pedal is pressed really hard, which isn't the safest way to drive.

Think I've read you can't adjust the brke light switch, so is just a case of sticking a new one in? Am i right in saying I'll need to bleed the brakes? first time for everything

Cheers B)...

ok then ... yeah could well be number 3 .... fitting new pistons is an easy job but remember you will need new pushrod tubs and seals.
you can swap the engines but will have to use the manifold off the pickup, you may be lucky and get away with the origional manifold gaskets, this is the quicker and normally easyer option....
